A Few Thoughts

What happens when we die?

Ask anybody what happens to people when they die. You will get a mixture of responses. Here is what I would expect:

Nothing, we just disappear.

We are reincarnated to some kind of animal

We are reincarnated to a new person

We wander about the earth like a mist or breeze.

We go to a different dimension

We go to a happy place

If you are evil you go to Hell

We go to Heaven

I don't really know

I don't really think about it.

If you re-phrase the question a bit and ask them, "what do you think will happen to a loved-one if they die right now?" most would say that they will go to Heaven. Read the obituaries and you can see this for yourself. Attend any funeral and you will hear it spoken.

People want a comforting thought. During the time that a person dies, the reality of death is active in the consciousness of the survivors. They will not contemplate death more fully than at this time. And because everyone fears the unknown, comforting things are said to them to alleviate the fear. Each of these survivors believes that either nothing happens to their friends or relatives after death, or something better happens. The same will apply to them when they die and therefore they can get on with recovering from their loss and living their lives the way that they always have.

But Catholics know different. The truth is that most people go to Hell when they die. Our Lord said to us:

But yet the Son of man, when he cometh, shall he find, think you, faith on earth?

for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat.

for many, I say to you, shall seek to enter, and shall not be able.

Strangers, friends, parents, siblings, children and spouses go to Hell, along with all of those "evil" people. Many of us Catholics go to Hell and many more go there who are not Catholic. Ignoring this fact does not change the reality of it and, if anything, guarantees it.

The false charity that many give to friends or relatives by saying that they are in Heaven when they are not, does not help them nor does it help us. That is why it is not real charity. It just makes us comfortable and that is how we like it.

Who could think of their mom going to Hell? Or their kids? Or themselves? We cannot believe that anyone we care about is going to Hell forever. To be terrorized by horrible demons and tormented with unending pain and suffering...for eternity. But it is true and it is even more true for those that had the opportunity to know the Truth, but rejected it. For they will suffer even greater pain and loss once condemned.

As horrible as this reality is, the reason for it is simple. Most do not have Faith. Not just any faith, but Catholic Faith. The Catholic Church has, and always will, guide people in the requirements given by God to save their souls. This is her only responsibility and she knows it. She is ordained by God to teach the whole world this knowledge and she laments all of the souls that disregard it, for as Christ said. "He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned." Not who believeth anything that any person tells them, or only some of what the Church teaches, or anything that they want to hear; But everything that the Catholic Church teaches them. That is why the Catholic Church fights so vigorously to conform the world to God so that all souls will be saved. But people don't want to believe what the Catholic Church teaches. Especially is this era, because the societies of the world, by the Prince of this World, have removed our Lord's teaching from everyday life. Many that hear the word of God, do not or cannot, through their own pride and obstinacy, conform their lives to abide by it. They will therefore condemn themselves to Hell and lead many others there also.

So what are you going to do about it? Are you going to help your kids along the path to Hell? Are you going to pleasantly embrace respectful, worldly nonsense while your mom and dad, your brothers and sisters, your spouse and all of your friends and relatives walk along the wide path to Hell and at the same time watch yourself walk there as well? Are you that cold and uncaring? Can you just ignore the reality of it or disregard it? Do you believe only other people go to Hell? Do you dispute the Words of God and the teachings of the Catholic Church that most people are condemned to Hell? Whether you believe it or not, it is going to happen; and most certainly if you do nothing about it.

Think about it carefully. Think about it often and pray for the conversion of your heart, that you may save your soul and help those that you care about to do the same. Seek to know everything that the Catholic Church instructs for your salvation. Ask the Blessed Virgin Mother to intercede with God for His Grace that is necessary to bend your will away from that which is self-centered and world-oriented, to that which is pleasing to God the Father. That which He has revealed to the Catholic Church by the Holy Ghost, through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
