Evil Thoughts?

To be sure, Satan desires all to despair. But God desires all to be better Catholics.

Thinking that you are not being Catholic enough should not be considered bad thoughts coming from Satan, they are correct thoughts. Who can say they are good enough? Even the most pious Saints never stopped striving to be more pleasing to God nor fearing of their own Salvation. You are blessed to be able to contemplate inadequacy in the eyes of God, for these thoughts will bring you closer to God and make you a stronger Catholic.

They only become bad thoughts when you let them cause you to despair and give up trying to be better, or the opposite scenario of presuming that you are holy enough and ignoring them as false demonic harassment. If you really feel that the Devil is behind the thoughts, then stop his attempts to drive you to despair through humility; agreeing to your inadequacy and re-doubling your commitment to know God's Will and to do only His Will. As our great priests have said, Satan is powerless against humility.
